[TED] Vijay Kumar: Robots that fly ... and cooperate
http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/en/vijay_kumar_robots_that_fly_and_cooperate.html
It's amazing technology and I try to think about the basic techniques. In order to control the robots, he uses the motion captures to get the location of one robot in space and then navigate it to avoid the obstacle. It is the same to one team of robots if he can detect one robot in the team. About the 3D reconstruction, one robot carries a kinect and laser scanner, in Microsoft's paper about reconstruction with kinect, http://research.microsoft.com/pubs/155416/kinectfusion-uist-comp.pdf, they solve this problem.
However, it is also shock to me and it is an excellent and difficult work, and amazing work. For everyone, it is hard to combine so many complex devices and complex algorithms. The performance of "Flight team" in operation and reconstruction are the best show I've seen.
