Toefl Writing: Making Friends with Intelligent People or Humor People

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is better to make friends with intelligent people than with people who have a good sense of humor.

Is it better to make friends with intelligent people better than with humoristic people, as the statement mention? I am totally agreed with this statement. The following points will support my opinion.

First and foremost, intelligent people usually have innovated ideas, analysis ability or other genius, which are helpful to expending our horizon, achieving our goal and gaining success. For example, Peter Thiel and Accel's friend Mark Zuckerberg, an intelligent people in computer, helps them to realize their creative idea - developing a genuine network. Both Peter and Accel don't be good at network designing and software programming though, but, as perfect businessmen, they have innovated business vision and fund. Finally, they achieve their own goals, earning money and realizing imagination. As a consequence, making friends with intelligent people gives us more opportunities to succeed.

Second, intelligent people always have positive attitude to chase their dream, which could encourage us to work hard for our destination. It is a good example that students are always eager to gain the admissions from Ivy League universities, which can provide more opportunities for them meeting intelligent people and good study circumstance. An investigation shows that one the most important differences between Ivy League universities and common universities is the circumstance. The circumstance often contains teaching facilities, professors' abilities and other students' attitudes. Particularly, the schoolmates' positive attitude toward their career is the most vital factor to their further development. In this point of sense, we should make friend with intelligent people.

Third, it is undeniable that those who have a good sense of humor surely provide us lots of pleasure and happiness. However, in fact, major of intelligent people always have good sense of humor. For instance, Yu Minhong, the CEO of New Orient School, usually show his sense of humor in his class, attracting numerous of students to his class.

In the nutshell, it is positive for people's development, on either study or future career. Nevertheless, it is also benefited that make friends with kinds of people, either smart people or humoristic people.
